Heerenveen, 5 May 2023. The G-juniors of FC Emmen experienced two special game rounds in Zwolle and Heerenveen. On Sunday 19 April, the players traveled to Zwolle, while on 3 May games were played in Heerenveen. Both days were marked by pleasure, development, and enjoying wonderful football moments together. Football is for everyone. From this idea, FC Emmen Naoberschap has been offering G-football since the 2019/2020 season for children and adults with a disability. There are now three teams active within the club: the G-juniors and the senior teams G1 and G2. The G-juniors play in the Special Eredivisie, a national competition in which various professional football organizations participate. For the players, this means a real professional experience: traveling with the players' bus, playing against other professional clubs, and finishing games at special locations and in Eredivisie stadiums. Pleasure, development, and sports together are always central. In addition to football, the teams also focus on friendship, self-confidence, and belonging. This makes G-football an important part of FC Emmen Naoberschap. In Zwolle, PEC Zwolle was the host of a game day in the Special Eredivisie for the first time. At the fields of SV HTC, the players of FC Emmen played against PEC Zwolle, Ajax, and NAC Breda. The games were full of enthusiasm, tension, and sportsmanship. The presence of former international referee Eric Braamhaar, who blew one of the games, was particularly special. For the players, it was a wonderful experience. FC Emmen showed in Zwolle how much development the team is undergoing. With good teamwork, a lot of effort, and plenty of pleasure, beautiful actions were laid down and the team also managed to win several clever games. But just as important were the moments off the field, where players from different clubs sought each other out and visibly enjoyed the joint football experience. On Sunday 3 May, there was another highlight with a game round in the Abe Lenstra Stadium of SC Heerenveen. Just the playing in a real Eredivisie stadium made for proud faces among players, coaches, and supporters. FC Emmen played games against AZ, FC Groningen, and SC Heerenveen. In Friesland, the joy of the field shone through. The games were played sportsmanlike and FC Emmen showed again that they could hold their own at this level. There was fanatical football, a lot of teamwork, and beautiful goals were scored. After the game days, all teams were treated to a warm applause from the stands. Parents, family members, and other supporters visibly enjoyed the enthusiasm and commitment of the players. With these two game rounds, the G-juniors look back on another beautiful experience in the Special Eredivisie. For FC Emmen, the season in this competition is over, but the players are already looking forward to the upcoming regional tournaments later this spring.
