Heerenveen players were evacuated from their apartment last night after a pepper spray incident. The apartment building in Heerenveen was temporarily evacuated after residents became unwell due to a strange smell.

Heerenveen midfielder Isaiah Ahmed was gaming when the fire department arrived at his door. He felt something in his throat and had to cough. Youth player Raoef Assady of Heerenveen was one of the people who became unwell.

How did the players react?

Assady says that he and his father knocked on all the neighbors' doors, then went downstairs and called 112. After that, the emergency services arrived. Ahmed says he finished his game before going downstairs.

What are the consequences?

The fire department's investigation revealed that someone on the seventh floor had sprayed pepper spray, causing people to become nauseous and get painful eyes. The eighth floor was also evacuated. At 01.00, the affected floors were cleaned and the residents could return. One apartment remains closed.
