SC Heerenveen played to a goalless draw against Telstar on Saturday evening, failing to score for the second time this season in the Eredivisie. The home side created chances but lacked the cutting edge to break the deadlock at the Abe Lenstra Stadion.

Head coach Robin Veldman saw Levi Mensah make his first start in thirteen months after returning from injury, while Marcus Linday and Dirk Proper were absent due to injury. Striker Dylan Vente searched for his first goal of the season but came up empty.

Telstar had a chance in the second half through Marvin Peersman, but goalkeeper Ronald Koeman junior preserved his clean sheet with a save from a corner. New signing Roberts Uldrikis added more threat after coming on, offering a spark in the Heerenveen attack.

Jacob Trenskow stumbled over his own feet in a promising position, summing up the home side’s frustration. Telstar failed to capitalize and secured their fifth point of the season from the draw.

Following the match, Heerenveen sit twelfth in the Eredivisie with five points from five games, one point ahead of Telstar. The last goalless draw in the Eredivisie occurred on 17 May against Ajax, also at the Abe Lenstra Stadion.

This season, Heerenveen have scored seven goals and conceded nine, leaving them with a goal difference of minus two. They trail league leaders AZ Alkmaar by eleven points in the title race.

Next up is an away trip to Sparta Rotterdam, who currently sit eleventh in the table. Heerenveen will need to show they can convert chances into goals if they are to climb the standings.

The 0-0 draw against Telstar marked the first goalless match of the current Eredivisie season and highlights the ongoing struggle to turn opportunities into goals.
