SC Heerenveen pulled off a surprise move on transfer deadline day by signing striker Roberts Uldrikis. The 28-year-old Latvian has put pen to paper on a one-season contract. The deal was completed on Thursday, just before the window closed.

The Frisian club brings a familiar name back to the Eredivisie. Uldrikis previously played in the Netherlands for SC Cambuur, where he scored 23 goals and provided 12 assists in 88 appearances between 2021 and 2024. His arrival is meant to bolster the attack for a team currently sitting 11th with 5 points from 4 matches. Heerenveen have scored 5 and conceded 6 goals this season.

Roberts Uldrikis left the Netherlands in the summer of 2024 for a spell with Kallithea FC in Greece. There he made 15 appearances and scored one goal. In January 2025, he moved to Arminia Bielefeld in Germany. His contract there officially ran until the summer of 2027.

At Bielefeld, the striker suffered a severe knee injury during a cup match. He underwent months of rehabilitation but was declared fully fit this past January. This season he made two substitute appearances in the 2. Bundesliga. The fee paid by Heerenveen has not been disclosed.

The arrival of Uldrikis gives coach Kees van Wonderen an additional option up front. Heerenveen are 11th in the Eredivisie with 5 points from 4 games. Their recent form has been mixed with a draw, loss, draw, and win (DLDW). The team trails leaders AZ Alkmaar by 7 points.

The Latvian is a physically strong player familiar with Dutch football. His experience and goal output at Cambuur could prove immediately useful. Fans can view the full squad on our squad page. The next test is a tough one: on Sunday, Heerenveen host league-leaders AZ at the Abe Lenstra Stadion.

The one-year deal for Uldrikis is a low-risk reinforcement. He is expected to contribute to the goal output immediately. The club clearly needs more firepower, having scored only 5 goals in 4 league matches.

The coming weeks are important for the season's ambitions. After the home game against AZ, a series of matches could be decisive for their mid-table position. Supporters can follow the full schedule on our fixtures calendar. The current league table is always available on the standings page.

Roberts Uldrikis is training with his new teammates this week. His contract with SC Heerenveen runs until the summer of 2027.
