Preparation for Heerenveen

On 21 August, PEC Zwolle coach Henry van der Vegt announced that the team wants to approach the away match against sc Heerenveen from a completely different angle than last week. In that match they lost 3-1 at FC Twente. Van der Vegt highlighted mental focus as the main points.

Mental focus and attack

Van der Vegt said: “We must not only focus on stopping, but we must also attack the opponent. That is what we are. We want to make it very difficult for the opponents. They must constantly feel that they have to retreat and think: here come the guys from Zwolle again. We really neglected that. We were too focused on just intercepting the ball. But not intercepting and then hurting those guys.”

Players in the squad

Younes Namli made his return to training this week, but for the former sc Heerenveen player the match tomorrow is still too early. Also newcomer Jan Bürger is not in the Abe Lenstra stadium; the young right-back has some pains and is therefore missing from the match selection.

Match details

The duel against Heerenveen is scheduled for tomorrow, 22 August, at the Abe Lenstra stadium. PEC Zwolle hopes to maintain the good start of the season and test the opponent.
