SC Heerenveen has bolstered its squad with a new signing, weeks after the closure of the transfer window. The club has brought in a former Ajax talent on a free transfer, with the player signing a contract until the summer of 2029.

The player arrives from a foreign club and will immediately join the group under manager Kees van Wonderen. Heerenveen's technical staff see him as a valuable addition to the depth of the squad. "We are pleased we have been able to secure him," Van Wonderen said. "He fits our style of play and brings experience."

The arrival follows a strong away result for Heerenveen last Saturday. The team secured a 0-4 victory at Sparta Rotterdam, with goals from Nolhan Courtens, Jacob Trenskow, Maxence Rivera and Marko Farji. That win moved the Frisian side into tenth place in the Eredivisie, with nine points from seven matches. Their form over the last five games has been mixed, with one win, two draws and two losses.

The new signing will have to compete for a place in a midfield that has performed well in recent weeks. Levi Smans provided two assists against Sparta, while Rivera both scored and set up a goal. The squad has currently scored eleven goals and conceded nine, a goal difference of plus two. Fans can view the full squad and upcoming fixtures on the club site.

The next challenge is an away match against PSV Eindhoven on October 9th. PSV sits third in the standings, promising a tough test at the Philips Stadion. Heerenveen will have to play that match without the injured Dirk Wanner Proper, who remains sidelined. The new player's contract runs for three full seasons.
