SC Heerenveen claimed a useful friendly victory against FC Groningen on Friday afternoon. In a closed-door match at Euroborg, the Frisian side won 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Luca Oyen.
An early goal for the home side was ruled out for offside. After half an hour, Levi Smans opened the scoring for Heerenveen. Shortly after the break, Marko Farji had a good opportunity, but in the 57th minute Wouter Prins found the top corner from distance for the equaliser. The decisive moment came a quarter of an hour from time. Jacob Trenskow initiated the move that was finished by Oyen for the 1-2 winner.
This friendly win comes at a good time for Heerenveen, who sit tenth in the Eredivisie with nine points from seven matches. The team faces a difficult away fixture at PSV Eindhoven next. The full standings and fixtures schedule can be found here.
