SC Heerenveen secured a convincing friendly win at FC Groningen on Friday afternoon. Coach Robin Veldman was pleased with the 2-1 victory in the match at Sportpark Corpus den Hoorn.

Levi Smans put Heerenveen ahead. FC Groningen equalised through Wouter Prins, but twenty minutes from time Luca Oyen decided the match with a fortunate finish. Veldman was particularly impressed with the first half. "We were dominant, dynamic and very good in possession," said the head coach. He stated his team gave away hardly any chances and called the match "our best training of the past two weeks".

The coach acknowledged FC Groningen were missing more regular starters, but stressed that what matters is what you produce on the pitch. For the home side, Pelle Boevink made a return and Marouane Bekkour and 16-year-old Joakim Nevalainen came on after the break. Hans Hateboer played the full match, while Luka Robben remained on the bench.

Heerenveen themselves were without Bernt Klaverboer and Oliver Braude due to international duty with the Netherlands and Norway youth teams. The win comes at a good time for the team, who sit 10th in the Eredivisie with 9 points from 7 games. Their last five league matches show mixed form: 1 win, 2 draws and 2 defeats (WDLDL).

The next official assignment is an away fixture against PSV Eindhoven on October 9th. The opponent currently sits third, promising a tough test. Heerenveen's full preparation and current squad are key for that encounter. The upcoming fixtures list shows a challenging run of games ahead.
